Summer Program Internships

 

Bedford 2030 interns help carry out the goals of the organization by assisting in planning events and outreach, supporting the staff, curating and writing newsletter content, designing materials, engaging community members through in-person and digital strategies, and researching, organizing and entering data. Bedford 2030 will hire up to three paid interns to work between June and August 2022 for a minimum 8 week internship. This summer we are offering three internship tracks:

Energy Program Tree, Soil, Water, and Land Use Community Engagement
Support the work of programs focused on clean energy and transportation, including: Support the work of programs focused on land, water, trees, soil, and sustainable food practices, including: Support initiatives to engage the community in local climate action, including:
Conducting research and reporting findings on existing community energy programs, methods of collecting emissions data, program incentives, and town/state policy Supporting the development of marketing campaigns and communications to engage the community in efforts to to capture carbon in our soil, trees and plants  Brainstorming and implementing event ideas to engage new participants and then assisting in production of in-person and/or virtual events
Creating materials for community education and outreach (including but not limited to webpages, social media posts, newsletter articles, videos)  Developing outreach campaigns to encourage more residents to participate in community and curbside compost programs; monitor and map tree planting throughout Bedford Contributing to a communication calendar by conducting research, writing copy, scheduling social media posts, and creating infographics for public-facing media
Identifying and tracking metrics to measure progress and success Creating materials for webpages, social media campaigns, newsletter articles, video, and tabling at events
Collecting and editing video content for use in promoting ongoing campaigns
Documenting a program that can be used to advise other similar communities to take action Assisting in development and management of community citizen science projects Generating communications in additional languages besides English a plus.

Though content will vary between the positions, interns can expect to: 

  • Develop campaigns to share on digital platforms, possibly in the form of a video series
  • Assist in researching and compiling findings on emissions measurements and community engagement strategies
  • Track program progress and metrics
  • Research and publish blog posts 
  • Create outreach and promotional materials
  • Prepare web materials and announcements for programs
  • Tabling at community events and promoting programs to community members
  • Helping to recruit volunteers and partners to participate in campaign efforts

Compensation & Time

  • Start Date: Tuesday, June 21, 2022
  • End Date: Friday, August 12, 2022
  • Days: Weekly Monday – Thursday
  • Hours: 9am – 4:30pm (Total 30 hours)
  • Compensation: $17/hour 
  • Office Closed: July 4, 2022

Location: The Bedford 2030 office is located in Katonah, in the Town of Bedford, NY. This position allows for flexibility in remote work, though periodic, and mostly outside, work in Bedford will be expected for responsibilities like tabling or community outreach. For any in-person work, COVID safety precautions will be followed.
