We’ve coached 500+ building owners on energy efficiency and sustainable landscaping sessions in the past 4 years—creating healthier air, water, soil, homes, and yards through residential and commercial climate actions.
Bedford 2030 helped secure a $500,000 grant for the electrification of Bedford’s Town House operations and supported the installation of six electric vehicle fast chargers in downtown Katonah, thereby improving community access to renewable energy.
We advocate for policy change, like the Plastic Reduction and Recycling Infrastructure Act (PRRIA) and the NY HEAT Act. In 2025, the PRRIA was passed by the NYS Senate, and a critical pillar of the NY HEAT Act was passed to be written into law.
Bedford 2030 is working to support Bedford’s expanded Landlord Registry, Building Health and Performance (BHP), which requires rental properties to have health, safety, air quality, and energy efficiency inspections. We’re also bolstering modernizing Bedford’s solar law to allow residents to install up to 25kW of solar.
We’ve mentored 1,000+ local high schoolers in designing climate action solutions through 10 years of Greenlight Award competitions, and fostered environmental education through partnerships with elementary schools, like Rippowam Cisqua School.
We facilitate 3 free local compost drop-off sites, and collected 67.8 tons of food waste in 2024 alone (equivalent to the carbon emissions mitigated by planting 800 trees). Plus, we’ve proudly stewarded 7 years of circular economy waste reduction and community participation at our Take It Or Leave It Shed.
