Greenlight Award™: Gen Z’s Climate Revolution

The first round of the 10th Annual Greenlight Award™ culminated on December 8th, showcasing 39 student-led climate action proposals from 14 schools and clubs across Westchester County. These projects were evaluated by 39 mentors who exemplify climate action in their careers and personal lives.

Bedford 2030 is thrilled by the highest participation in the program’s history, reflecting the growing energy of the next generation of voters and leaders. This year’s Proposal Showcase proves that young people are deeply committed to addressing climate issues.

The projects were diverse, covering everything from green roofs and waste reduction to soil health and carbon sequestration. Many students incorporated cutting-edge technologies like AI, showcasing their ability to adapt to a rapidly changing world and think beyond traditional solutions. These students are imagining new solutions that push the boundaries of conventional—and we love that.

By giving students a platform to amplify their voices, Bedford 2030 helps reinforce the momentum of climate action in our community. Through partnerships with local educators and experts, students gain real-world experience while connecting with professionals who inspire and share their knowledge.

Despite busy schedules, students put in the hard work to research, refine, and confidently present their ideas. We’re incredibly proud of their dedication and passion to make a real-world impact.
