Peter Kuniholm is a longtime climate advocate, professional environmental engineer, and recycling and composting specialist. He organized Bedford’s single-stream recycling program, Zero Waste Challenge, hauler data collection and annual summaries, and recycling and composting educational materials, helping make Bedford one of New York’s highest-recycling towns. He founded Bedford Community Compost, co-founded the Take-It-or-Leave-It program, secured a state grant for residential compost pickup, and oversaw the addition of 24/7 food-scrap bins in two villages. His work spans program development, permitting, infrastructure, and implementation. His philosophy: Zero waste starts with observing what we do every day.
