Some of the largest buildings and transportation fleets that get the most use in our community are the schools. Community members can influence how these buildings are saving energy, reducing waste, and tapping into renewable energy. There are also opportunities in and around schools to inspire and educate the next generation of environmental leaders.
Whether you are a student, parent, teacher, or community member, you can work to have an influence in the schools in our community. Students can start a student club to promote initiatives and educate their peers, parents can form a green team or task force, anyone may attend a Board of Education meeting and find out more about school policy and to start to take steps to make our schools more sustainable models of climate action.
Students and teachers, check out the Bedford 2030 Greenlight Award Contest where you learn all about pitching a project, get funding and advice from community experts to help you develop it and carry it out. Present your results and win in up to $500!
